Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books

We can’t be a best in our major without knowledge from experience or from textbook. I think both two are important. There are several ideas to support my opinion.

First, if you want to be a program designer, you must to learn computer architecture and organization in textbook. After that, you will know how the data running in the computer or how to storing it in memory. Although it is not your destination, but it will help you to make a efficiency program. Second, we have learned many theories from textbook, but seldom proof it by experiment. Unlike some experiment are included real situation, these theories almost be set in ideal situation. Third, in this time, many works should be done in teamwork. In contrast, knowledge gained from books didn’t tell you how to done with teamwork.

To sum up, knowledge from experience and from books are important to forward us to be a best in our major.

Compare and contrast living at home and in the dormitory

Before entering in NTUST, I had never living without my parents more than one week. I felt uncomfortable at the beginning, because I need to care all about my life, such as eating, washing clothes and take care my body. In contrast, sort of that things can be concerned with my parents. Unlike living in home, living in dormitory also have to get used to everybody’s the way of life. For instance, someone like to either talking or playing music loudly at midnight. Though everyone have own rules, we must reapect and tolerance one another.

Living in dormitory not just that bad, it still have two advantages. First, we have the freedom more than living in home. After the school, I can go to shopping, sing karaoke or watching TV until midnight with my roomates. In contrast, I just can stay at home if I living with my parents. Second, we can discuss our homework one another, but living at home do not.

Although living in dormitory is not convenient than living at home, but I met many friends come from different place, and we created a lot of memories.

why did you choose your major? (final)

I major in Electronic Engineering. Playing electric toys was my favorite when I was a child and I was curious about how they worked. For this reason, I thought electronic engineering would be my best choice.

When I was a child I liked to play motor-trolley(軌道車). At that time, I often researched with my brother for how to make the car run fast. We found that motor was the most important part. We decided to make a motor by ourselves. Fortunately, we succeed. I felt accomplished to make a unique motor and consequently I have been interested in electronics since then.

Electronic engineering could be divided in three fields: Computer Science, Power System and Photoelectric. Program design is my favorite, so I chose Computer Science as my major field. There are two reasons for why I chose Computer Science. First, I can done my jobs with a computer only. For example, if I want to generate a multiplication table. I just need to type an algorithm in program editor and check the result to see whether it is successful or not. Second, in order to get the knowledge about Embedded System. Embedded System is popular for use in smart electric appliance. There are many courses related to Embedded System that I can take in the department of Electronic Engineering, such as Computer Architecture and Organization, Hardware Description Language, and some pratical class.

I am ambitious to do my work when I write computer program and also enjoy it. This proves electronic engineering is the best choice of mine. I will proceed to my research in graduate school, and hope to be a program designer in the future.

Three people who are working to make a difference in the world

Three People Making a Difference

The program is talking about three people are working to make difference in the world. They are doing something special for helping people for nonprofit.

Heidi Kuhn, she started an organization to procceed Princess Diana’s work to rid the world of landmines. It is also work to return the land to agriculture use. Joel Selanikio, he is a doctor who developed technology that is saving live in developing countries. He collect the information and health services to follow the spread of diseases and to better organize their work. Lisa Nesser, she operate a school in Chiang Mai, Tailand for children from Burma. The school is called Thai Freedom House. Most of her students are children of migrant workers form Shan state in Burma. They are not accepted in Thai school.

Their action just like 陳樹菊. Even though she just a vegetable saler, but she still donate almost her money to charity. She thought that money need to give to someone who need it.

I am very appreciated that those people dedicated their life to help the people staying in the state of less opportunity. Although they didn’t get any profit from the work, but I think happiness is the biggest property they own.
